As week 36 draws to a close, I've been anxiously waiting to see how my little pumpkin is doing. My ultrasound went well today. He napped during most of it, but gave a couple kicks to let us know he did not appreciate us crowding "his space." The ultrasound tech estimated his weight around 5 pounds, 9 ounces. He's still pretty small, but then again I'm not that big myself. Most babies average around 6 pounds by week 36. My doctor told me he's the tortoise in the race...growing slowly but steadily. She reminded me that the tortoise did win the race.... its funny how a children's fable can make a worried mom-to-be feel better.

Mother's Day
Ryan and I celebrated Mother's Day with the pups and a pretty tasty dinner. He grilled steaks & I made coconut shrimp....Yummo! We didn't accomplish very much this weekend, but it was nice to just relax. We still need to finish the large garden before the baby arrives... that's just one of the many items left on my to-do-list. Ryan surprised me & took me over to Lowe's to pick out my Mother's Day present, which I LOVE! He bought me a ceramic turtle for our tomato garden, sooo cute! He told me it was from the baby & all the pups, but I gave him credit too :) I told my mother-in-law Ryan bought me a turtle and she thought it was alive... guess I should've clarified that it was ceramic. It was pretty funny! Can you imagine us with three dogs, one pet turtle, and a soon-to-be baby boy? No thanks... I'm good in the pet department!

Easter Weekend
We had a great Easter….very relaxing! We just hung out with family Saturday & Sunday. All the pups came along to the Easter festivities on Saturday and they thoroughly enjoyed themselves! Dakota even went for a quick dip in my father-in-law’s pool…silly dog! She was pretty sneaky about it…she knows the pool if off limits to anything with fur J Dakota simply could not help herself, she LOVES water. It was pretty funny… her grandpa insisted she fell in as opposed to sneaking in. I guess I’ll play along too J LOL
When we arrived home Saturday, I was craving cupcakes. As a kid, my mom always made coconut cupcakes during Easter. I decided to look up a quick recipe for Easter bunny cupcakes. Needless to say, I found one I loved. I started baking Saturday night, but decided to decorate Sunday morning before church. I woke up early to let all the dogs out and decided to let them stay in the kitchen with me as I began to decorate. It started off ok….definitely not as easy as the picture portrayed these cute little bunny cupcakes to be. Ryan woke up and called me to the room… he was curious to see what I was working on so early. I left the kitchen for a couple minutes and upon my return…. I’m sure you can guess what happened. One of the pups decided to steal a cupcake….still not sure which one, but I’m leaning towards Harley or Dakota. Thank goodness it was just the one! Those cupcakes took forever to decorate. I did cheat though…halfway through I stopped decorating and just began icing the remaining cupcakes. I blame my pregnancy…I just didn’t have the energy to finish the job. LOL
Check out the cupcakes I did finish decorating…

Paws in the Park
Last weekend we took the pups to Paws in the Park, it was a beautiful day! Well, not all the pups attended. Shelby decided to stay behind… it's not exactly her cup of tea. Shelby does not like other dogs....only her furry sisters & she's learned to tolerate them over the past two years. It's funny because most beagles love other dogs, not our little princess.
Dakota and Harley seemed to enjoy the park. A few vendors gave out treats & a local trainer demonstrated doggie CPR. Pretty Neat! I look forward to this event every year, but then again I love anything dog related! I cannot wait to take our little boy to Paws in the Park next year. Hopefully, he'll love dogs just as much as his mom….if not more :)

11 Weeks To Go
I cannot believe I'm already 29 weeks....only 11 more to go! Things are going pretty well so far, except for the occasional leg cramp. Thank goodness the cramps don't come daily....it feels as if someone has reached inside my leg and twisted my muscle like a pretzel. Yikes! On a happier note, my little one is moving more. He's becoming more active during the day....especially after a good meal. Ryan was a little depressed that his son doesn't appreciate Mexican food as much as he does. What can I say....our little one appears to be taking after mommy. I'm not a huge fan myself!
My growing belly as of today:
Week 29 (update provided by Gerber.com)
By this time your baby may weigh just under 3 pounds and is a bit less than 14 inches long.
Now that organ and nerve development are almost complete, your baby will start gaining weight very quickly—mostly in the form of body fat. This fat will provide insulation for your baby and will fill out most of the wrinkles in her skin, making her look like a plump, healthy infant.
Your baby's brain continues its important developmental work this week. In fact it is growing so quickly now, it may cause her flexible skull bones to swell slightly. The folds and fissures of the brain continue to develop, allowing room for important interconnections between nerve cells. During this week brain-wave patterns begin to look like those of a full-term baby.

Check Up
It's going to be a great day....my prenatal check up went well. My baby's heartbeat was a solid 159...very good indeed! I always look forward to my appointment, it's a wonderful feeling to hear his little heart beating. Truly amazing!!
My growing baby: Week 27 (provided by Parents.com)
Your baby is getting downright chubby as fat deposits continue accumulating beneath his skin, which looks pink because blood vessels are so close to the surface. He'll rely on those fat deposits after he's born to provide energy and insulate him against cold. By the end of this week, he'll probably weigh more than 2 pounds. The placenta is now almost fully developed.
